Lucy lives and works as a veterinary surgeon in her university town, Cambridge, UK. She was born and raised in the Netherlands and attended the BSN from the Foundation stage up until Sixth Form. At school, Lucy took part in many different co-curricular activities including MUN (Model United Nations), Media Crew, various sports and trips, the Centre for Young Musicians, and she was a Student Leader. As a trainee vet, Lucy had some incredible international work experiences in India and Australia before qualifying this year. In her interview, she reflects on her experience within the BSN community, her motivations for becoming a vet and the challenges and rewards this involves--especially interesting for anyone considering a career working with animals.

“It’s just such an enriching environment and to have opportunities to go beyond just getting your grades and doing the curriculum was something that BSN really provided me with.”

“I liked having a challenge and I really liked being involved in helping with people. I mean, helping people is now my job. And so I think actually, I was already showing those kind of motivations and skills when I was at school.”

“I was really strong with my STEM subjects, math, sciences. But I knew I didn't want to just sit in a lab or sit in front of a computer. I love being busy and busy with my hands.”
